You can do a lot of stuff just using an Ubuntu Live CD as a starting point. I have some scripts in the same <a href="http://nerdnotes.org/scripts/" rel="nofollow">directory</a>. <a href="http://nerdnotes.org/scripts/dapperxgl.sh.php" rel="nofollow">dapperxgl.sh</a> is an attempt to demonstrate Xgl with the Dapper Drake live cd (flight 5), the next Ubuntu version. It manages to install the required packages but then it enters a loop in which the X server keeps on crashing. This is just beyond the limits of what's currently possible with these kind of live scripts. For nice demo of Xgl, just download an cd image from <a href="http://kororaa.org">kororaa.org</a>.
